That you can book for just bed and breakfast but also have an evening meal if you want to, also you can choose between a la carte or table d'hote, the a la carte meals were the best choice, also the evening entertainment and the friendly staff.
The repetition and quality of the table d'hote menu's

The staff were very friendly and very attentive. The reception, bar and dining areas were very good, the breakfast and arrangements for getting breakfast were really good. The two evening meals we had were reasonable value for money. Plenty of hot water.
We stayed in room 209, and the bathroom was a little tired, with the bath having rust around the plug hole was a bit off putting although the shower was great. Although the service at breakfast and restaurant was great, at times it was so attentive that it became a little annoying with plates being whisked away before you could finish your last mouthful, If I had wanted fast food I would have gone to McDonalds!!

We found the reception staff rather unwelcoming!

'City' trip is ticked as it provided an opportunity to explore the mediaeval town of Sherborne - best in an evening when the external architecture is more visible - then a return visit in the morning to appreciate the glories inside Sherborne Abbey.
It would have helped to have a map of Sherborne and local facilities available in the room.

Rooms very tired in need of refurb, dining room very cramped. Whole hotel needs to be updated. Most importantly there was no running water throughout the entire hotel in the morning of my stay. This meant not able to flush wc, no shower etc. staff were giving out small bottles of water to use to wash. Now trying to get full refund as payment was taken on arrival.

Loved the superior room, this time we got what we paid for, the supposed 'superior' room we had last August was definately not superior, if you feel your room is not up to standard, check, we should have last time.Loved the refurbished reception area, a great improvment.
Customer care service in restaurant needs improving, eg. basic manners, 'may I take your plate?' Instead of just reaching over your shoulder to remove a plate and more use of general plesantries so you feel valued as a customer. We were entitled to a free paper with a superior room, but this was not stressed we were merely asked if we wanted to order a paper. The dinner menu was not on display at 5.30 pm when we checked in & we were not asked if we required an evening meal, we had to request a reservation and were still not shown a menu then!

Convenience to the wonderful market town of Sherborne
Unknowingly going for breakfast when a large coach party was having their breakfast all together

Staff very helpful. Very nice grounds, good value for money
Whilst the Front of house seems to be gradually being re-furbished, the hotel clearly needs a gret deal of money spending on decoration, new carpets and re-grouting / replacement of tiles in bathrooms
